FELTBOARD: Eggs All Around

This is a cute Springtime feltboard story which gets the kids involved. You cover each animal with an egg and read just the first 2 lines of each verse and pull away the egg just a tiny bit to reveal a small portion of the animal. Once they have guessed the animal read the last line of the verse. Have the kids chant the chorus with you each time you say it.

Eggs in the treetops
Eggs on the ground
Eggs in the water
Eggs all around

Eggs, eggs, lots of eggs
Who's inside the little one begs

This one hatches, and
I see a smile
It's a toothy crocodile

Eggs, eggs, lots of eggs
Who's inside the little one begs

Heres an egg
Way in the back,
Out comes a baby duck,
Quack, quack, quack

Eggs, eggs, lots of eggs
Who's inside the little one begs

Inside this egg
Who does dwell?
A tiny turtle in it's shell

Eggs, eggs, lots of eggs
Who's inside the little one begs

Eggs in the water
Make a wish
When they pop open, there'll be a fish

Of all the eggs,
I like the best
The robin's eggs in her nest

* If you have a portion of a blue robins egg bring it in to share with the kids. Ask them if they have ever seen blue eggshells on the ground at their house or in the park.

The Green Grass Grew All Around

In the woods, there was a hole (echo: there was a hole)
The prettiest hole (the prettiest hole)
That you ever did see (that you ever did see),
Oh a hole in the woods, a hole in the ground,
And the green grass grew all around, all around
And the green grass grew all around.

And in that hole (and in that hole)
There was a root (there was a root)
The prettiest root (the prettiest root)
That you ever did see (that you ever did see)
Oh a root in hole and a hole in the ground
And the green grass grew all around, all around
And the green grass grew all around.

Continue with

tree -- tree on a root, root in the hole, hole in the ground, and the green
grass grew?
branch ? branch on a tree, tree on a root, root in the hole, hole in the
ground?
nest ? nest on a branch?
egg ? egg on a nest?
bird ? bird in the egg?
